Prompt: What Spiritual Practices Do I Need?

The only requisite for spiritual expansion is the desire and intent to confront the contents of your heart and mind so that you may begin to experience forgiveness and unconditional love.

However, that is not very much content. To humor you, here are some things that are NOT required for a spiritual awakening:

  • Yoga
  • Chanting
  • Breathwork
  • Sound Healing
  • Bodywork
  • Veganism
  • Vegetarianism
  • Books
  • Online courses
  • Certified experts
  • Bio-technology
  • Rituals
  • Psychedelics
  • A degree
  • Modesty
  • Sacrifice
  • Penance
  • The Church
  • Religion
  • Worship
  • Rule abidance
  • Austerity
  • Poverty
  • Abstinence from alcohol
  • Abstinence from sex
  • Abstinence from passion
  • Abstinence from desire
  • A particular job
  • A particular body
  • A particular opinion or preference
  • A particular lifestyle choice
  • A clean history
  • Perfection

You are free, welcome, and encouraged to use any tool or method that is meaningful to you. There is nothing, though, that you have to do. There is no dogma and nothing you must do besides confront your inner world.

Every spiritual ritual you give meaning to is a metaphor, a placebo, and it only has value to you because you assign it value. That does not mean yoga, for example, is not meaningful if you find value in it. If you find value in it, it is very meaningful. But nothing on this list has intrinsic value outside of what you’ve assigned it, and therefore, none of it is required or necessary to use as a spiritual practice. Do only what feels right, and don’t burden yourself with pressure to do more.

In Love,
The Universe
