Soul Poems: A Winter’s Pause

A poem I wrote when the end of the rollercoaster of spiritual rebalancing was in sight, toward the end of my first year of spiritual awakening. There were still challenges and heartaches while I was coming into alignment, but I knew I was nearly in the clear and a beautiful future was drawing nearer.

She lives within a mystery
Adorned in painted plumes
Those who look upon it
Could easily assume

That it contains the flowers
Which she has always tended
But for a winter’s moment
Bulbs wait in cold, suspended

Though the windy nights
Cut sharply as a blade
The thorns of love that came before
Will ultimately fade

In teasing rays of sunlight
Where once darkness seemed to loom
The tender buds of friendship
Inevitably bloom

Next season when the colors change
And flowers go to seed
She sees that she’s grown fruit and nuts
And all the love she needs
