Through Swamps and Jungles: Poems from a Spiritual Awakening

You say there’s no desire
When I follow in the light
Will I be trapped in spotless day
And lose the thundering night?

I wrote these poems over the course of a year and a half as I was experiencing an intense spiritual awakening. In sharing them, I hope to bring you some comfort on your own journey, and to help you feel less alone through the ups and downs, the joys, the pain, the burning intensity and fiery passion, the sadness, the confusion, the elation, the acceptance, the love, and peace, and the understanding.

I had not written more than a handful of poems in my life before these. But they began to pour out of me, as did dance and painting. An upwelling of creativity was part of my journey of waking up.

Some of these poems are about spiritual concepts that I “downloaded” from the Universe over the course of the year and a half. It felt like poetry would be a good way to express the knowledge I was receiving.

Many of the poems will be posted on my blog as Soul Poems, however, I wanted them to be available as a book as well. Sometimes it’s just nicer to hold something.
