A poem I wrote about non-attachment and opening up to unconditional love.
………………………………………………………
You were not easy
To release
For so long I tried
Every cell
Screamed out for you
But I could not confide
When I thought
To give you up
My heart would not abide
The only choice:
To unattach.
I had to go inside
I met myself
And what I found
A heart not open wide
But buried deep
In sticky burrs
Which from my soul I pried
A flood of feelings
Pouring out
The tears I hadn’t cried
At times I thought
That I may drown
No way to survive
I had to learn
To trust myself
To act as my own guide
To open
To the universe
Be swept up in its tide
I made it through
The need of you
Came out the other side
Now I claim
The staggering love
I tried so long to hide
The love has grown
The pain has gone
The need has finally died
I am peace
And I’ll pass on
The lesson you supplied
